PortableVoices training and apprenticeship program offers hands on projects and additional classes that cover a wide range of subjects and are designed to advance your creative abilities and skills as a journalist, producer, podcaster or audio engineer, whether you're a professional or hobbyist. Subjects include audio production, mixing and mastering, sound design and composition, remixing, and advanced podcasting and audio production techniques.

SKILLS YOU LEARN

Narrative Storytelling

You get an overview on various genres, trends, design strategies, and production pipelines such as narrative design and plotting a story. You get equipped with understanding of technologies and techniques that make stories immersive experiences.

Field Research

This area of study will help develop and enhance your understanding of the global field of journalism. You learn best practices and ethical standards for news gathering processes and compiling a news report through hands-on projects and peer-to-peer feedback.

Script Writing

Combined with field work, you will learn taught the fundamental skills of writing the features, news, podcast and radio scripts from the original idea to finished screenplay. You’ll learn how to apply your new found skills to every type of today’s digital media, television, film, stage, and radio, providing you with insight as well as practical knowledge.

Audio Recording

The course take you through the complete audio signal chain, beginning with the acoustic source. Along the way you will learn about basic acoustics and electronics, analog and digital formats and professional conventions, levels and metering, and DAW and console signal flow.

Audio Editing

You learn how to perform editing on audio files in different softwares including adobe audition, ableton, pro tools e.t.c. You also learn different types of licensing for videos  and  how you can get free audio  and use it even in your commercial projects.

Audio Mixing and Mastering

This course is meant mainly for producers, but anyone can learn. You learn how to master your own tracks,  and shows with in depth content on mastering EQ, compression (including multi-band), limiting, mid/side processing and more. These skills can be applied to all mastering software and audio program.

Wide Exposure to Audio Softwares

Trainee gain hands on experience on how to use a wide variety of latest audio softwares. The sessions features lectures, weekly masterclasses with your team-mates and practical in – depth assignments. We start with the basics and guide you through to making a finished project whilst teaching you essential production skills.
